Favre....

It's amazing how one can see the brainwashing of individuals by the media, even by the sports networks. The same "talking points" you hear/see on ESPN are often spewed by sports fans! Seldom do these sports fans take the time/effort to really investigate a story. Hence, they land up with a one-sided-sports-media-generated-opinion....generally highly negative. (Just like the news media does with politics and current events.)

Take Brett Favre for instance. How many really know that Favre was FIRED by Green Bay Packer's General Manager Ted Thompson? Favre was guaranteed to be a Packer for life. Thompson chose to break that promise and gave him an ultimatum: tell us NOW ("Now" meaning just weeks after the '07-'08 season....) if you are going to return next season or we're moving on. 90% of all NFL players don't have to worry about returning to the team until training camp! Some even negotiate their contracts while sitting out training camp! Favre was under contract. He knew it. Thompson knew it. Thompson was pushing Favre to either quit or be fired. Favre didn't quit, he "retired" instead. Then he decided he didn't want to be pushed around and be "retired" by Thompson....so he came back to the Packers....UNDER CONTRACT! Thompson was emphatic this time: You are outta here!

This wasn't the first time Thompson tried to "retire" Favre. It was Thompson who, in previous years, leaked false stories to the sports media that Favre was considering retirement. Thompson wanted to play his boy, Aaron Rodgers. Thompson honestly thinks he has the same scenario as Joe Montana/Steve Young. He thinks he has a better QB in Rodgers than Favre. Hmmmm.

I'm a DIE HARD Packer fan. I have been since the days of Vince. I would LOVE to see Ted Thompson get what he deserves: his own personal firing. That could happen this year. The soap opera will conclude after this season. If the Vikings win the division and continue into the playoffs while the Packers don't, Favre has exacted a little revenge on his former boss. If Favre fails and Aaron Rodgers goes on a tear, then Thompson had some pretty good foresight.

Now....for some of you idiots who keep talking about how Favre "fell apart" in the last four games of last season with the Jets. Huh? He played with a TORN BICEP! Yet he was still able to amass another 3000 yard season! (His 17th in a row!) How many QB's do you know that can throw touchdowns with a torn bicep....at age 39???!!!

The talking is over. It's going to be a fun season. (Unless Fave or Rodgers or BOTH get hurt....)
